La Révolution Moderne

Typography

Taking Adrian Frutiger’s font Égyptienne and using a method of abstraction to create a new typeface, known as La Révolution Moderne.

THE PROCESS:

INFERRING QUALITIES

After analyzing what was unique and similar about each character, a variety of different shapes and forms were applied to replace these attributes. It was important to staying consistent to Égyptienne’s geometric and elegant curves to ensure that this new font was a descendant. Égyptienne, has mostly even strokes which was an important factor when designing La Révolution Moderne.
